ツバメが毎年来るお店

我が家から徒歩数分の場所に、毎年ツバメが巣をつくるお店があります。
個人商店ながら立派なたたずまいの〇〇金物店は、代々続く地元でも有名な商店！

春先に、その店の軒先から賑やかなツバメのヒナの声が聞こえてくると毎年うきうきしてしまう私です。

そのお店の軒先には、年中ツバメの巣がかかっております。
ツバメが去っても、お店の方がそのままに大事に保存しておられるんですね。
その巣を毎年ツバメが利用しにやってくるというわけ。

ツバメは、冬の間を台湾やフィリピンなどの東南アジアで過ごします。

自分の生まれた土地で、自分の育った家（巣）で、今度は自分が子育てができるというのはうれしいね。

〇〇金物店の方達も、ツバメがやってくる頃には糞受けを準備していたりと受け入れ態勢バッチリ！

冬の間だけちょっと旅行に行ってしまうけど、燕は代々続く大切な家族のような存在なのかもしれません。

しかし一つ疑問が

私も、密かにツバメの来訪を毎年楽しみにしています。
しかし、今年観察していてある疑問が！！！

『金物店のシャッターが降りている時はどうやってヒナに餌を運ぶの？』

そう、ツバメの巣は店の軒先にあります。
シャッターはその外側にあるわけ。
シャッターが降りると、内側になってしまい出入りができなくなっちゃうじゃない？？？
ダイジョウブ？？？

夜はツバメも寝てしまいますから問題はないと思います。
しかし、金物店の営業時間は10:00〜16:30とおひさまが出ている時間よりだいぶ短いのです。
さらに、定休日もあるので、ツバメにとって子育てに支障がないのでしょうか？

なんと専用出入口完備！

そんな疑問を抱えたある日、いつものように金物店の前を歩いていると、唐突に答えがわかりました！

なんと！シャッターについている小さな穴、新聞受け！
その穴からひょっこり顔を出したのは・・・そう！ツバメ！

そうなんです、シャッターが閉まっていても大丈夫だったのです。
新聞受けの小さな穴から、いつでも自由に出入りができる構造になっていたんですね！

もちろん、お休みの日などシャッターが一日中閉まっている日はお日様があたりません。
しかし、１日ぐらいなら、ツバメのかなり正確な体内時計は狂う事もないでしょう。
ツバメは、自分の生活を人間のライフスタイルに合わせることで、人の近くで安全に暮らすメリットを得ているのですね。

多い時で数万羽も集合することのある集団ねぐら！

我らが〇〇金物店のツバメ一家も、他の家族と合流して、旅の準備を始める時期です。

また会えるのは約半年後ですが、きっと来年も元気に姿を見せてくれると祈っています。
